HBLF announced its "Media for Society" competition for the fifth time. The aim of this award is to acknowledge media reporting on the practical acts of social responsibility and cooperation, the popularisation of successful initiatives based on the cooperation of sectors, communities, organisations and private individuals.

HBLF highly esteem the social commitment of journalists, reporters and editors and wish to acknowledge their work by announcing this competition year by year and reward the best articles and reports. The award has changed this year, one candidate could submit only one application, Again record number of entries (80) were assessed by the jury, that included János Betlen (Hungarian Television), Sándor Érdi (Budapest Media Institute), András Faragó (Central European University), Marianna Török (NIOK), András Simon.

In 2006, based on their decision Júlia Sívó and András z. Surányi won the first prize of HUF 300.000  with their report titled "DrámaDrom". The film, which was broadcasted in november 2005 on channel M2 of the Hungarian National Television, reports about an initiation in which drama courses and games are organised for Roma children.
The second prize of HUF 200.000 forint went to Ágnes Szörényi (Figyelõ) while Anna Lengyel Nagy got the third prize of HUF 100.000. Gáspár Bubrik got a minor prize as well.

We congratulate all the contestants and gratefully encourage their realisation that it is important to develop civil society and encourage the cooperation between the social sectors.
