The Business Ethic workgroup was formed at the beginning 2007.
The mission of the workgroup was defined as follows:
- to increase the standard of business ethics in Hungary with special focus on the fight for a business environment free of corruption, illegal employment practices and fraud by developing ways and means to avoid such practices and lobbing for the implementation of respective programmes with the government, non-governmental organisations as well as with private sector enterprises.
During the first half year of 2007 the workgroup convened five times. At the beginning the definition of the mission and programme was the main task and the workgroup finally agreed to start the work by collecting information -through a questionnaire- about the actual status of business ethic policies in companies active in Hungary.
The goal of the workgroup is to publish the results of the questionnaire and develop an action plan based on these results. Furthermore the workgroup intends to participate in the public discussion about business ethics and cooperate with other organisations in order to create and increase awareness.
