The Hungarian Business Leaders Forum’s “Business World for the Environment” award was established in 2000. The purpose behind the award is to encourage Hungarian companies in sustainable environmental activities.

This was the sixth occasion that the award took place and featured eight written applications demonstrating how companies take care of the environment.

The applications were submitted by the following companies:

• Coca-Cola Beverages Hungary
• The Water Works of Budapest
• Holcim Hungária Zrt.
• Hungarian Post Zrt.
• Hungarian Telekom Nyrt.
• MOL Group
• TESCO GLOBÁL Áruházak Zrt.
• Vodafone

The award ceremony of the "Business world for the Environment" was held on 7th of November. László Haraszthy, State Secretary for Nature and Environment Protection at the Ministry for Environment and Water gave the first prize to TESCO Globál Áruházak Zrt. The second prize went to Magyar Posta Zrt. while the third to Holcim Hungária Zrt.

The jury members consisted of Members of the HBLF and invited external experts, including:

Dr. Gyula Bándi, Erzsébet Egri Nagy, Economic Radio, Editor of CSR Program; dr. Gergely Tóth, Secretary of the KÖVET and Márta Bonifertné Szigeti, Executive Director of the Regional Environmental Center, the Leader of the HBLF Target Group.
