’Any long-term reintegration of Roma into the mainstream will require
 company leadership’

Dear Business Leader,

HBLF’s Equal Opportunity Target Group has launched in 2007 the Romaster Program – an education and talent support program for socially disadvantaged roma students. The program aims to help roma integration through the support of their long term education. The program has three main elements:

1. Financial aid to support their education at HUF 20 000/month/student – the company will provide a bridge from high school to higher education (hard diplomas are supported only!)
2. Double mentoring
- the company provides mentoring to the student to make them acquainted with the business environment,
- the school teacher helps the student to be successful with his/her studies
3. After graduation possible work experience at the company

Companies who have already joined the Romaster Program:

The brief description of the program:

-Talent support program for roma youths who are presently in high school or in vocational school
-Long term support (4-6 years) providing a bridge between high school and higher education ending with a diploma
- Only those students may apply who are willing to go to a university or college with economic, engineer or law orientation
- We support only socially disadvantaged students who without our support would not be able to study
- The 3 main parts of the program are: 1. financial educational support, 2. personal contact with the supporting company (mentoring), 3. possible work experience (internship, summer work, etc.)
- The school appoints one teacher from the school to support the student as a mentor helping him or her to be successful with their studies. Later in higher education the student does not have a school contact and he/she has to handle finances related to support by himself/herself.

The support from the company for the implementation of Romaster:

-Active participation in selecting the most suitable students for the company (we have 150 qualified candidates to choose from)
-To have personal contact with the students, the company should appoint one person from the company who regularly (each quarter) talks or meets with the students (the company invites the students to company events, maybe offers summer jobs, explains the operation of the corporation, etc)
-Provide the financial support that is annually HUF 240 000 + 25% administration / student. The money is transferred  to the school twice a year by HBLF, received by the students in monthly instalment and can be used only to support their studies (language lessons, books, travel to school, etc.)
