The HBLF founded the Women’s Business Leaders Forum on the 22nd March 2004 to help develop dialogue between leading women managers and the government in Hungary with the further goal of supporting sustainable growth. The two hosts of the founding meeting were Katalin Szili (Speaker of the House) and Borbála Czakó (HBLF President). Kinga Göncz the minister of Youth, Family, Social and Equality Affairs, Zita Gurmai the vice-president of the EPs Women’s Equal Rights Committee and Klára Dobrev the wife of the prime minister also attended the event.

Katalin Szili in her speech – given to successful managers and politicians – welcomed the effort made by the HBLF in promoting reform. The main purpose of this initiative was to promote dialogue and cooperation between women working in different fields and to emphasize their role in the creation of greater uniformity within business.

Borbála Czakó emphasized that this had not been the first such effort by the Forum. On the 10th anniversary of the „Bokros Package” a conference took place where the representatives, finance ministers, presidents of the Bank of Issue and leading economists from both ruling parties sat down to create a dialogue from which all participants might benefit. Borbála Czakó hinted that they would continue this process and will organize similar events.

Kinga Göncz emphasized the responsibility of successful women to share their knowledge with the newer generation of managers to ensure that more women become leaders regardless of their field of work or the geographical region they work in. The emphasis should be on sustainable professional development.

Kincső Adriány, the managing director of HBLF pointed out that such successful projects do exist in other parts of the world. They give women managers mentoring opportunities (sharing of professional and personal advice), create new relationships and encourage the sharing of experience with younger generations

The HBLF offers an opportunity to its 100 Hungarian and international member companies, with the additional involvement of the local intellectual, business and political elite, to create and support equal rights movements and other social activities. „Crescendo. Együtt, Működünk” will be next such event on the 30th March 2006. This will be held in the Parliament in association with Microsoft Hungary, also a member of HBLF.
